When I was in the 7th grade, I had nothing to do besides school. Got so bored I’d sleep at 6 pm right after finishing homework. It’s not that there was a lack of things to do. I had a phone. Access to the internet. The opportunities for entertainment were endless. My eyes were just closed. Dreaming of nothing.
For the longest time I hated that year. It was a period of loneliness and endless boredom. But now as I sit and reflect, the 7th grade wasn’t too bad.
The 7th grade was when I learned to braid my hair. The relative that did my hair every Sunday didn’t show up that day and little, annoyed me managed to knot up 6 thick braids for school the next day. It only went uphill from there.
The 7th grade is when I got into the habit of reading. Wattpad was real popular then and though looking back it’s all too cringe, it got me into reading!
The 7th grade is when I learned to make eggs. With tomatoes and onions and all!
The 7th grade wasn’t all too bad after all.
In the race of memories
The bad often comes up 1st
The good a close 16th.
The good still manages to reach the finish line though! It’s important to acknowledge it. Give it its participation medal.
And yes, if you’re wondering, I still hate my 7th grade experience; just a little bit less as of late.
